The Saunier Duval company was founded by Charles Saunier and Maurice Duval in 1907. In 1916, following the death of Charles Saunier, Henry Frisquet succeeded him and renamed the house Saunier Duval Frisquet.
The reputation of Saunier Duval Frisquet will be made during the 1920s in public lighting, with prestigious Parisian achievements such as the lighting of the Alexandre III bridge or the Place de la Concorde.
The road signaling activity will begin in the process, with the first experiments with traffic lights in Paris in the early 1920s. The company will adapt during the 1930s and 1940s to the evolution of traffic lights and pedestrian signals. The aesthetics of these traffic lights will take up the codes used for public lighting.
The post-war period will see the water heater activity of Saunier Duval develop considerably, which will gradually take precedence over the street furniture activity, the production of which will stop definitively.
in 1967.
Saunier Duval Frisquet lights are very rare today. A tricolor copper copy has been kept by the MEGE association, and 5 other single-color copies are still in place in Paris.
