Maintenance of traffic lights in Amsterdam, 1950
The first traffic lights of the Netherlands are put in service in 1932 on the Leidseplein place in Amsterdam.
In November, 1933, a new system automated by control of the traffic lights of the Leidseplein place is installed. Twelve other crossroads are equipped with traffic lights in Amsterdam.
The same year, the first protected crosswalk is installed.
In 1945, 34 crossroads are equipped with traffic lights.
68 others crossroads with traffic lights are born in 1965.
In 1970, the authorities of Amsterdam decide to put on certain crossroads of traffic lights 24 hours a day because of the number of accident occurring at night.
In 1972, 200 traffic lights are in position in the Dutch capital.
In 2005, the first cyclists traffic lights with time is installed.
