When the first microprocessor controllers were put into service in Paris from 1978, three models were present: the TAG (Garbarini-Omera), the VPZ (SFIM), and the Thomson-CSF controller.
For each of these controllers, a programming case was required. In order to facilitate their maintenance, a universal case enabling intervention on the three controller models was developed and patented by EDF in 1985.
This is an EPSON base, modified with an EPROM support.
A homemade controller was made by the technicians of this urban community in the 1970s.
Very reliable home-made intersection controllers installed in small numbers based on the operation of Crouzet electro-mechanical timers.
A patent for invention was filed by CUDL in 1978.
Period: between 1970 and 1980.
Controller developed in 1955 by the municipal lighting laboratory of the city of Paris. It offered 3 to 6 phases and 2 time programs obtained by 2 motors.
It was designed when no controller at that time offered a modular design allowing for expansion.
Some municipal organizations have developed self-made intersection automatons to respond either to a lack of a product satisfying their needs on the market, or for reasons of economy.
These controllers disappeared with the arrival of regulation and the standards imposed on intersection controllers.
