The Compagnie Générale d'Automatisme or CGA (which later became Alcatel and then Thalès) had a centralized control department specializing in traffic light signals during the 1970s and until the 1990s.

The CGA developed centralized systems for programming and managing traffic light intersections, mainly for large cities. This was particularly the case for the city of Paris where the CGA developed the SURF system within the Lutèce central operating station.

It would also seem that the CGA marketed tricolor signals of Italian origin from the manufacturer SCAE, in the 1980s, with the inscription "CGA" on the back of the lights.
